Agastache rugosa ‘Golden Jubilee’ / Anise Hyssop / Seeds

A good border and pot plant, with fluffy flower spikes in lavender-blue above attractive contrasting golden yellow leaves.  The leaves are at their best in spring and early summer and flowers come out from July to September on strong stems.  Plants grow to a height of 50-70 cm and attract butterflies into the garden.  The leaves and flowers have an attractive anise-like scent.  A Fleuroselect Award Winner.

Anise Hyssop grows best in full sun to part shade and well-drained soil. Plants need regular water in summer and well-drained soil to survive the winter.  Good pot subjects with regular water.

Pack of approx 50 small seeds.  Sow in spring and summer. Sowing instructions and a colour photo are printed on the packet.

Hardiness Hardy perennial (RHS Hardiness H4, hardy to about -10°C)
Flowers July to September
Height 50-70cm
Spread 50-70cm
Conditions  Plant out in full sun to part shade and well-drained soil
Sow Sow in spring to summer.  Sow in a tray of seed compost, with a very light covering of compost or vermiculite.   Do not exclude light, which helps germination.  Keep at 15-20°C and germination starts in about 2 weeks and takes up to 3 months. Pot on when seedlings are big enough to handle and plant out after the last frost into sun or part shade and well-drained soil.  Deadhead to prolong flowering.
Grow Plants flower in the second season.  These are just-hardy plants and they need well-drained soil to survive winter. Protect young shoots from hard frosts in spring.   The leaves and flowers die down in winter, when the dead material can be cleared away, and they start growing again in spring.
