Eschscholzia californica ‘Rose Chiffon’ / Californian Poppy / Seeds

A beautiful form of Californian Poppy with rose pink fluted semi-double flowers from June to September.  Flowers are mottled pink on a cream background with red undersided petals. These are very easy to grow hardy annuals, forming clumps of fern-like leaves, with big tissue-paper petals of flowers. Plants grow to about 25cm in height.

Californian Poppies prefer sun and poor or moderately fertile soil.

Pack of approx 100 seeds.  Sow directly into prepared soil in early autumn or late spring.  Early spring sowings can be done in pots.  Sowing instructions and a colour photo are printed on the packet.

Sow

Sow in autumn or spring directly in the soil, on the surface and rake over lightly.  Or sow in early spring 5mm deep in plugs/pots of seed compost and keep at room temperature.  Germination takes 1-2 weeks.  Plant out into the garden in late spring, disturbing the roots as little as possible.

Grow Deadhead plants to prolong flowering.  Remove plants in autumn after they have finished flowering.  Plants self seed freely, but not always in the same colour and form.
