Heuchera micrantha ‘Purple Palace’ / Coral Bells / Seeds

This is a plant grown primarily for its fabulous strong bronze purple leaves, which contrast well with many other plants.  The leaves stay out all year, providing good winter colour.   Heuchera grows in neat rounded mounds of leaves about 40 - 50cm high.  The plant has delicate spikes of small creamy white flowers in early to mid summer.

Heuchera does well towards the front of a border and in containers.  It prefers full sun or part shade and moist, well drained soil.

Pack of approx 200 seeds.  Sow anytime, most commonly January to May.  Sowing instructions and a colour photo are printed on the packet.  This strain has been tested to deliver uniform plants (no green coloured off-types).

Hardiness Hardy evergreen perennial (RHS Hardiness H6)
Flowers Early to mid summer
Height 40 - 50cm
Spread 25 - 30cm
Conditions  Full sun to part shade and moist well-drained soil
Sow

Sow anytime, most commonly January to May, in a tray of moist seed compost.  Press in the seeds lightly, and do not cover as light is needed for germination.  Keep at 18-20°C and seedlings emerge in 2-4 weeks, some up to 2 months.  Pot on young seedlings and grow until the plants are ready to plant out after the last frost.

Grow These are low maintenance plants once established.  They are evergreen in most UK gardens and leaves die back in winter in colder areas.  Tidy up plants in early spring if needed.  Hot direct sun may fade the leaves a little.  Plants are tolerant of coastal conditions.  Mature plants can be divided in winter.
