Pepper ‘Paper Lantern’ is a super-hot variety of Habanero Chilli Pepper. Habaneros originate in Central America and are widely used in Cuban cooking. This variety has an elongated red fruit, bigger than the standard Habanero. Plants fruit 10-15 days earlier and are very productive. These are tall plants, growing to a height of 60-90cm. These are hot chillies with a Scoville rating of 250,000 – 400,000.
Habanero peppers grow and ripen best in long hot summers or in a greenhouse. They can be grown in containers. Plants produce green fruits in about 70 days, ripening into red fruits in about 90 days.
