Indigofera cytisoides / Fire Pea / Woody Shrub / Seeds

The Fire Pea is a robust woody shrub with grey-green leaves and large beautiful rose-coloured flowers in autumn.   These are well-branched shrubs growing to a height of about 2m and are attractive garden plants for sunny sheltered gardens.  They grow naturally around Table Mountain and beside watercourses and are members of the Pea family.

Fire Pea grows best in full to part sun and a sheltered location. Plants grow well in moist well drained soil, typical of a winter rainfall Mediterranean climate. They can be grown outside in the UK in warmer southern and western gardens and sheltered inner city spaces.  They are hardy to about -10°C for short periods, and may re-sprout from the base if apparently killed off by frost or fire.

Pack of 10 seeds.  Sow in spring to late summer.  Sowing is erratic and can take up to three months, so sow more than you need.  Sowing instructions and a colour photo are printed on the packet.
