Radish 'French Breakfast 3' / Crisp Mild and Sweet / Seeds

A popular and high quality radish with good uniformity and colour and a small white tip.  The radishes are crispy, mild and sweet.    They can be cropped one month after sowing and are ideal for sowing every two weeks during the summer for a continuous harvest.   It has an RHS Award of Garden Merit, described by the RHS as "reliable, trouble free and outstanding quality”.

Radish ‘French Breakfast 3’ grows best in sun or part shade and most soils. It is very easy to grow and is attacked by few pests.

Pack of approx 1000 seeds.  Sow directly in the ground or containers in spring and summer.  Sowing can be extended into early spring and late autumn under cloches or in a greenhouse.  Sowing instructions and a colour photo are printed on the seed packet.

Hardiness Hardy annual
Height 15 - 30cm
Spread 10cm
Conditions  Sun to part shade and most soils
Sow

Sow directly in cultivated soil or containers from mid-April to mid-September.  Sow 1cm deep in rows 20-25cm apart.  Sow earlier in spring and later into autumn under a cloche or in a greenhouse.  Seeds need a soil temperature of 7°C or more to germinate.  Germination is quick –generally less than 10 days.  Sow every two weeks for a continuous supply.

Grow & Harvest

Radishes are generally ready to eat within 30 days of sowing.  Pull the entire plant from the soil when ready – you can see the shoulder of the radish raised at soil level.  Do not leave radishes in the ground too long as they become woody and unpleasant to eat.  The leaves are edible and have a pleasant peppery flavour.
