Miss Wilmott’s Ghost is a popular Victorian variety of Giant Sea Holly. Plants have attractive silvery white flowers in June to August. The spiky brachts and cones of tiny flowers make this a distinctive plant, looking best in sunny borders and especially good in gravel gardens. Plants grow to a height of 60-90cm. They make good fresh and dried cut flowers.
Giant Sea Holly prefers a sunny well drained position, and can tolerate drier soils and coastal sites. It is a biennial plant, growing a rosette of leaves in the first year and then growing vertically and flowering in the second year. It will self-seed.
Pack of 30 seeds. Sow in autumn to early summer. Germination is best with 3-6 weeks of chilling, either in a cold frame in winter or in a fridge. Sowing instructions and a colour photo are printed on the packet.
