Coreopsis grandiflora ’SunFire’ / Tickseed / Seeds

Coreopsis ‘SunFire’ is an award-winning perennial which flowers in the first year and from May/June all the way through to the end of August.  Plants have bright golden yellow single flowers with maroon centres, great for borders and pots. They grow to a height of 40-60cm, with a good upright habit.  These make good cut flowers.

Coreopsis flowers best in full sun and tolerates part shade.  Plants grow well in most soils except very damp places.  They are tough and easy to look after, being tolerant of drought and heat once established.  They attract butterflies and bees into the garden.

Pack of 50 seeds.  Sow indoors in spring to autumn, or directly in the ground once all risk of frost has passed.  Sowing instructions and a colour photo are printed on the packet.  Plants flower 12-14 weeks from sowing with good light and heat.

Hardiness Hardy perennial (RHS Hardiness H5)
Flowers May/June to August
Height 40 - 60cm

Sow

Sow in spring to autumn in a tray of seed compost. Cover lightly with compost, keep in the light and keep at 20-22°C. Seeds germinate in 1-2 weeks. Transplant seedlings into pots when they are large enough to handle and out into the garden after the last frost. Or sow directly into cultivated soil in late May/June for flowering the following year.

Grow Deadhead during the summer to prolong flowering and cut back in the autumn after flowering has finished.  Divide mature plants every 2 to 3 years for the best flowers.
