A rare and showy shrub with large and abundant tubular red flowers in spring. This is a perennial shrub growing to a height of 1m to 1.5m. These plants grow in a very restricted area near Cape Town and are closely related to the Northern hemisphere Echiums.
Lobostemon belliformis grows best in sandy well drained soils and needs protecting against hard frosts – so grow in pots and move to a greenhouse/conservatory in winter or grow outside in the warmest parts of the UK. Plants are suitable for coastal areas and Mediterranean gardens.
Pack of 15 seeds. Sow in spring to autumn. Germination is improved with the use of Smoke Primer Solution. Sowing instructions and a colour photo are printed on the packet. These seeds come from cultivated plants in a botanic garden.
