Achillea millefolium 'Cerise Queen' / Yarrow / Seeds

A great colourful border plant, with clusters of dark pink flowers and feathery leaves.  Plants flower all summer from June to September and do well with very little effort.  They grow to a height of 60-100cm and look good with other Achilleas and Echinacea.

Yarrow grows best in sun and not-too-fertile well drained soil.

Pack of approx 1500 small seeds.  Sow in spring to autumn in trays or pots, or directly in the ground in late spring.  Sowing instructions and a colour photo are printed on the packet.

Hardiness Hardy perennial (RHS Hardiness H7)
Flowers June to August/September
Height 60-100cm
Spread 40-60cm
Conditions  Plant out in a sunny position in well-drained soil.
Sow Sow in trays of moist seed compost.  Press the seeds lightly into the compost and do not cover, as light is needed for germination.  Keep at 17-24°C and germination takes a few weeks.  Pot on seedlings when they are big enough to handle and plant out into the garden after the last frost.  Keep autumn sowings in a greenhouse or cold frame over winter before planting out in spring.  Seeds can be sown directly into cultivated soil in late spring.
Grow Plants flower in the second season.   Consider staking the plants, as they can fall over later in the year in high winds and heavy rain.  Plants can be given the ‘Chelsea Chop’ in late May – cut back by a third – to keep them compact.  Clear back the dead flower stalks in winter or early spring.  Plants start to grow again in the spring.
