A great evergreen multi-stemmed shrub for a warmer garden, with masses of violet blue flowers in autumn. Bush Violet grows into a mound of soft sage leaves to a height of 80 – 100cm. They are great for rockeries, top of walls, and ground cover. In pots, they cascade softly over the edges. They tolerate windy coastal gardens. The plants come originally from Southern Africa where they grow on forest margins.
Bush Violet grows best in full sun to part shade and well-drained humus-rich soil. Plants are drought resistant once established but flower better with regular water. They look best pruned hard every year after flowering.
