Erigeron glaucus / Seaside Fleabane or Beach Aster / Seeds

A lovely daisy-like plant with lavender to pale pink flowers with yellow centres, blooming from June to September.  These are great plants for gravel gardens, rock crevices, edging and containers.  They are from the west coast of North America and have naturalised around the southern and western coasts of the UK. Plants grow to a height of 20-30cm.  They are attractive to pollinators.

Seaside Fleabane does best in full sun and grows well in a wide range of well drained soils.  They are drought, wind and salt tolerant once established.  Plants are evergreen in warmer gardens and mostly deciduous in colder areas.

Pack of approx 50 small seeds.  Sow the seeds in spring and summer.  Germination can be erratic.  Sowing instructions and a colour photo are printed on the packet.

Hardiness Hardy perennial (RHS Hardiness H4)
Flowers June to September
Height 20 - 30cm
Spread 20 - 45cm
Conditions  Full sun and a wide range of well drained soils
Sow

Sow the seeds in spring and summer onto the surface of a tray of compost.  Press the seeds gently into the compost and do not cover, as light is needed for germination.  Keep at 15-25°C and seedlings emerge in 2-6 weeks.  Germination can be erratic.  Pot on young seedlings and grow until the plants are ready to plant out in frost-free conditions.

Grow Deadhead plants to prolong flowering.  Trim back plants in autumn after they have finished flowering.  Basal cuttings can be taken in spring.
