Erigeron speciosus ‘Pink Jewel’ / Fleabane / Seeds

A lovely daisy-like plant with a long season of semi-double lilac pink flowers with yellow centres, blooming from June to August. A great border plant, flowering in the first year from early sowings.  Plants grow to a height of 45-60cm.  They make good cut flowers and will attract butterflies and bees into the garden.

Erigeron ‘Azurfee’ does best in full sun and will grow well in a wide range of soils.  Plants are drought tolerant once established and will grow in coastal gardens and wall crevices.

Pack of approx 200 small seeds.  Sow in spring for first year flowering, or anytime for next year flowering.  Sowing instructions and a colour photo are printed on the packet.

Sow

Sow anytime (January to May is easiest) on the surface of a tray of moist seed compost and do not cover as light is needed for germination.  Keep at 15-20°C and seedlings emerge in 2-3 weeks.  Pot on and grow until the plants are ready to plant out after the last frost.   If sown in spring, plants flower 4-5 months from sowing.  If sown later in the year, protect plants over winter in a greenhouse or cold-frame and plant out after hardening off in spring.

Grow Deadhead plants to prolong flowering.  Trim back plants in autumn after they have finished flowering. Divide plants every 2-3 years for the best flowers.
