Helichrysum or Xerochrysum bracteatum 'Golden Yellow' / Everlastings / Seeds

A golden yellow Everlasting with double flowers from July to the first frost.  Plants have grey-green leaves and grow to about 90cm in height.  The flowers are beautiful in the border and are excellent cut and dried flowers. They last indefinitely as dried flowers.

Everlastings grow best in a sunny spot with average to poor soil.  They tolerate drought once established.

Pack of approx 500 seeds.  Sow indoors in spring for planting out after the last frost.  Sowing instructions and a colour photo are printed on the packet.

Hardiness Tender to half hardy annual (RHS Hardiness H2)
Flowers July to the first frost
Height 90cm
Spread 20 - 50cm
Conditions  Sun and well drained soil
Sow

Sow in spring indoors.  Sow the seeds on the surface of a tray of compost.  Press the seeds into the compost and do not exclude light.  Keep at a warm 18-22°C and germination takes 1-2 weeks.  Pot on young seedlings as they grow and plant out after the last frost, after hardening off. Seeds can be sown directly into the garden in spring in warmer Mediterranean gardens.

Grow Plants need little attention once established.  Deadhead plants to prolong flowering.  Remove the plants once they have finished flowering and sow again in spring.
