Hypericum perforatum / St John's Wort / Medicinal Herb / Seeds

St John’s Wort is a traditional medicinal herb.  It makes an interesting garden plant for herb and wildflower gardens and informal borders.  Plants have a strong upright habit, growing to a height of about 1m. They have golden yellow flowers, with black dots along the edges, in June to July/August.  The fresh flowers are harvested in June and July for traditional medicinal use.

St John’s Wort grows best in sun to light shade and moist free-draining neutral to slightly acidic soils.   Plants are deciduous and die down in winter when they can be cut back. They start regrowing in spring.

Pack of approx 4000 seeds.  Growing from seed can be erratic, so sow more seeds than you need.  Sow the seeds directly into the ground in autumn or early spring, or sow indoors anytime.  Sowing instructions and a colour photo are printed on the packet.

Grown in Cornwall

Caution: Plantsare harmful if eaten.
