Lavender 'Spanish Eyes' / Fernleaf Lavender / Lavandula multifida / Seeds

A fast growing perennial Lavender with very showy violet-blue flowers from June to September.  These are beautiful plants in bud and in flower.  Good for pots and borders, growing to a height of 40-60cm.

Fernleaf Lavender thrives best in a hot sunny spot and in well-drained soil.  The crushed leaves smell pleasantly of oregano.

Pack of 50 seeds.  Sow anytime.  Sown seeds need chilling in a fridge for 6 weeks to germinate well, and plants need protection against frost.   Plants can be grown as annuals from early sowings, as they can flower within 8-10 weeks of germination.  Sowing instructions and a colour photo are printed on the packet.

Hardiness Half hardy evergreen perennial - can be grown as an annual (RHS Hardiness H3)
Flowers June to September
Height 40 - 60cm
Spread 50 - 75cm
Conditions  Sun and well drained soil
Sow Sow anytime in a tray or pots of moist seed compost.  Cover lightly with compost and seal in a clear poly bag or plastic lid. Keep at 15-18°C for two weeks. Then place in a fridge for 6 weeks, and back into 15-18°C.  If there is no germination within 6-10 weeks, then return the trays/pots to the fridge. Remove seedlings from the fridge as soon as they emerge.  Transplant seedlings to pots when they are big enough to handle and into the garden after the last frost in a sunny position.
Grow Plants need little care once established.  Trim plants after flowering.  Do not cut into the woody parts of the plant, as stems may not regrow.  Plants are not generally troubled by pests and diseases. Semi-ripe cuttings can be done in summer.   Protect against hard frost or grow as an annual.
