Lychnis flos-cuculi / Ragged Robin / British Wildflower / Seeds

A British Wildflower and good garden plant.  Ragged Robin is an upright plant with a rosette of leaves and spikes of frilled star-shaped pink flowers in late spring to mid summer, typically May to August.  They look lovely in naturalistic and wilder gardens and alongside streams and boggier parts of the garden.  They attract bees and butterflies into the garden.

Ragged Robin grows best in full sun to part shade and moist soil, reaching a height of 40-70cm when in flower.

Pack of approx 2000 seeds.  Sow in spring or autumn indoors or spring and summer directly into the ground.  Sowing instructions and a colour photo are printed on the packet.

Hardiness Hardy perennial (RHS Hardiness H7)
Flowers May/June to August
Height 40 - 70cm
Spread 40 - 80cm
Conditions  Sun to part shade and moist soil
Sow Sow indoors in spring or autumn.  Sow the seeds on the surface of a tray of compost.  Press the seeds into the compost and keep at 15-20°C.  Germination takes 2-3 weeks.  Transplant seedlings into pots when they are big enough to handle, and out into the garden during frost free conditions.  Or sow the seeds directly into cultivated soil in spring and early summer, thinning the seedlings to about 20cm apart.
Grow Deadhead plants to prolong flowering.  Tidy up plants in the autumn after they have finished flowering.  Plants will self-seed in the right conditions.
