Pandorea jasminoides / Bower Vine / Fragrant Climber / Seeds

The Bower Vines is a fast growing evergreen climber, with scented white and pale pink tubular flowers in summer and early autumn.  The vine has glossy green leaves and grows up to 5m in height, twining its way through a trellis or arch.

Bower Vines grow best in a sunny position in the UK, sheltered from strong winds, in moist fertile and well drained soils. They can be grown outside in the the warmest coastal gardens, but they are not frost tolerant.  They are popular conservatory plants.

Pack of 30 seeds.  Sow the seeds from spring to autumn. Germination is erratic and takes 2-4 weeks, sometimes up to two months. Sowing instructions and a colour photo are printed on the packet.

Hardiness Tender perennial evergreen climber
Flowers Summer into autumn
Height To 5m
Spread 50 -100cm
Conditions  Full sun and moist fertile well drained soil
Sow Sow the seeds from spring to autumn.  Soak the seeds first overnight in hand-hot water.  Then sow the seeds onto the surface of a tray of compost.  Press the seeds into the compost, but do not cover, as light is needed for germination.  Keep the tray moist but not waterlogged, as a warm 20-25 degrees Celcius.  Germination takes 2-4 weeks, sometimes up to two months, so do not discard the seed tray too quickly.   Prick out seedlings into pots and protect from frost..
Grow Grow in a sunny sheltered situation.  Tie in shoots to a support as they grow and climb as necessary.  Prune plants after flowering in late summer, by trimming back long and unruly stems.  Plants flower on growth from the previous season.  Plants can be propagated by semi-ripe cuttings in summer and layering of branches.
