Potentilla nepalensis 'Melton Fire' / Cinquefoil / Seeds

An unusual form of Potentilla with tricolor flowers, ranging in colour from deep red to soft pink to vanilla.  Flowers come out from June to the first frost.  This Potentilla grows to about 45cm in height and is a good plant for an herbaceous border.

Potentilla needs a sunny, well drained spot to do best.

Pack of 30 seeds.  Sow in cooler conditions (generally autumn to spring).  Sowing instructions and a colour photo are printed on the packet.

Hardiness Hardy perennial (RHS Hardiness H6)
Flowers June to the first frost
Height 30 - 45cm
Spread 20 - 50cm
Conditions  Sunny position in any well drained soil
Sow Sow autumn or spring (in cooler conditions).  Sow in a tray of moist seed compost and cover lightly.  Chill the tray in a fridge (5°C) for 3 weeks to break dormancy.  Then keep at 15 - 20°C and germination takes about 3 weeks.  Transplant into pots when seedlings are well established.  Keep summer/autumn sowings in a cold frame or greenhouse over the winter and then plant out in spring.
Grow Plants start flowering in the second season.  After flowering, cut back the flower stems to ground level.  The plants are deciduous and can be cut back to ground level in late winter.  Mature plants can be divided in spring or autumn.
