Mastic Thyme is a tasty culinary herb from the mountainous areas of Spain and Portugal. It is an attractive plant with small green leaves and masses of fluffy white flowers in midsummer, typically from June to August. Plants look great in dry or Mediterranean gardens, herb gardens, as edging and in pots. They attract pollinators. The leaves are used for seasoning food, and for extracting essential oils.
Mastic Thyme grows best in a sunny spot and well drained soil, growing to a height of 30-40cm. Plants are hardy to about -10°C but need good drainage to survive a UK winter.
